Camp Marguerre

Camp Marguerre is hidden in the woods of Bois d'Hingry, a few kilometres from the village of Loison. During the First World War it was a German camp where concrete structures were tested. The camp was built from 1915 and is named after Major Hans Marguerre of Pionier Battalion No. 2. During the war, the location was known as Bismarck Lager.

Today, Camp Marguerre is freely accessible and many structures are well preserved. Most interesting is the structure that was likely the residence of Marguerre. It has decorated windows and painted ornaments are visible inside.
