The Haldensleben Forest is located to the west of the town of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt. It is a historically significant site known for its Neolithic tombs. The burial sites date from the period 3500 to 3000 BCE. The forest houses a group of 78 tombs, and the locations of approximately 38 destroyed tombs are known. Many of these tombs were destroyed during the 19th and 20th centuries. Haldensleben Forest contains the largest concentration of megalithic tombs in central Europe. The tombs are indexed and numbered by Reinhard Möws and Thomas Witzke.
