Fort bij Everdingen

Fort Everdingen, located near the town of Everdingen, was built between 1842 and 1847 as part of the New Dutch Water Line, a defensive line intended to protect the cities of the Dutch heartland by utilizing flooding as a barrier against enemy advances. The fort is strategically situated at the confluence of the Lek and Linge rivers, enabling it to control the water levels in the area and thereby activate the inundation system essential to the Waterline's defense strategy.

Around the fort are the remains of an infantry position, concrete shelters and several locks.
