The Valley of the Queens is a burial site where queens, princes, princesses and other high-ranking officials of Ancient Egypt were buried. The Pharaohs were buried in the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Queens consists of the main wadi which contains 91 tombs and subsidiary valleys with another 19 tombs.

QV44 is the tomb of prince Khaemwaset. He was one of the sons of Pharaoh Ramesses III, the second Pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty (1189 BCE to 1077 BCE). Khaemwaset was a priest of Ptah in Memphis. His tomb is well preserved and was excavated by Italian archaeologists in 1903-1904.
