The Tochtsloot originates between Hierden and Hulshorst. It is a lowland stream and drains surface water. The stream flows into the Veluwemeer. Due to land reclamation (poldering), the amount of seepage water (groundwater discharge) that is drained has decreased. The Tochtsloot has a moderate flow, is relatively shallow, and runs mostly straight.
