The Putechan cemetery, or Cladh Nam Paitean, is located south of the village of Glenbarr. The cemetery is situated on the coast overlooking the sea. On the eastern side is a walled burial chamber with a castle-like appearance. The chamber has four towers on each corner and a stylish gate with two towers.
The cemetery was first used as a resting place of shipwrecked sailors who had been washed ashore. Cladh Nam Paitean originates from Claoidh nam Baithtean which means "burial place of the drowned people" .
