The Lakshmana Temple is one of the finest stone temples of the Chandela dynasty, built around 930–950 CE. The temple is is dedicated to Vaikuntha Vishnu and is a key monument in the Khajuraho group of monuments.

The temple’s outer walls are richly adorned with an extensive array of sculptures, renowned for their intricate detail and dynamic forms. These carvings depict gods and goddesses, celestial beings, musicians, dancers, animals, and daily life scenes, alongside the famously sensual and erotic figures for which Khajuraho is known.
