Kildonan Dun is a fortified farmstead between the villages of Campbeltown and Carradale. It is strategically located on the coast overlooking Kilbrannan Sound. The dun is a D-shaped enclosure surrounded by stone walls. It was first built some time between 100 and 200 CE and was occupied again during the centuries from 600 to 900. It was then abandoned but occupied once more from the end of the 1100s to the early 1300s .
