Highland Park distillery

Highland Park Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest and most revered whisky distilleries, located on the remote Orkney Islands. It's the second northernmost single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland. Founded in 1798 by David Robertson on the site of an illicit still operated by Magnus Eunson, a butcher and church officer by day and smuggler by night, the distillery has a storied past that merges local lore with traditional whisky-making practices.

Highland Park is known for its distinctive whisky, which is shaped by the unique climate and natural resources of Orkney. The island’s harsh winds and cooler temperatures contribute to a slow maturation process, while local peat, rich in heather, imbues the whisky with its unique aromatic profile. The distillery is one of the few in Scotland that still maintains traditional floor maltings, manually turning the malted barley by hand, which further distinguishes its craft.
