
Hallgrímskirkja is a church in Reykjavík, Iceland. The church is named after the Icelandic poet Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674). The construction of the chruch started in 1945 and ended in 1986. Hallgrímskirkja is Reykjavík's best-known landmarks and is visible throughout the city. It has a striking modern design with a 74.5 metres high tower with distinctly curved side wings.
