Gruve 2, or Mine No. 2, is a remnant of the coal mining history of Svalbard. The mine was opened in 1913 and mining activities continued until 1967, after which the mine was closed. The pithead of the mine is located on a steep slope. During World War II, the mine was damaged by a grenade of the German battleship Scharnhorst during operation Sizilien on 8 September 1943.
