Cill Chriosd, Isle of Skye

Cill Chriosd, or Kilchrist, is a picturesque ruined church located in the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Situated near the village of Broadford, it stands in the Strathaird peninsula, offering scenic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Red Cuillin hills.

The church dates back to the 16th century, though it was likely built on the site of an earlier medieval church. Cill Chriosd was the parish church of Strath until the late 18th century. It was used by the congregations until 1840, after which a new church was built closer to Broadford, leading to Cill Chriosd's abandonment and eventual ruin.

The name "Cill Chriosd" translates to "Christ's Church" in Gaelic. Most of the gravestones in the atmospheric graveyard are from the 18th and 19th centuries. They provide a glimpse into the lives of the local inhabitants over the centuries.
