The Broch of Gurness is an ancient Iron Age structure located on the northwest coast of the Mainland, the largest island in the Orkney archipelago of Scotland. Dating back to around 500 BCE, this broch is one of the most impressive and well-preserved of its kind in Scotland. The Broch of Gurness likely served as a fortified residence, possibly that of a local chieftain, and was the center of a small community. Surrounding the central broch are the remains of a number of stone houses, which would have formed a village.

The Broch of Gurness was occupied until about AD 100, after which it was abandoned. A Norse graveyard from the 9th century indicates that the site was used later by the Vikings.
