An observation tower of the World War II Balure Range on the western coast of Kintyre. The Balure Range was a live bombing and firing range that was used for training squadrons posted to HMS Landrail (later RAF Machrihanish, today's Campbeltown Airport). The range was named after the nearby Balure Farm and contained four brick and concrete quadrant towers, or observation posts, that were aligned with the land and sea targets .
