Ballycarbery Castle is a historical ruin located near Cahersiveen, Ireland. Perched on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the mouth of the River Fertha, the castle offers strategic views of the surrounding landscape. The castle dates from the early 16th century. Ballycarbery Castle is believed to have been constructed by the MacCarthy Mór dynasty, one of Ireland's most influential medieval families. In other sources, it was associated with the O’Connell family, who were prominent landowners in the region. The castle was a stronghold during its time but suffered significant damage during the War of the Three Kingdoms in the mid-17th century. It was partially destroyed by cannon fire and has remained in ruins since.
