Hiorthhamn

Hiorthhamn is an abandoned settlement located on the east side of Adventfjorden on the island of Spitsbergen in Svalbard, Norway. It served as a coal mining camp from 1916 to 1921 . During World War II, the settlement was used as a military headquarters . It was damaged by the German battleship Scharnhorst during operation Sizilien on 8 September 1943.

Hiorthhamn was named after the minining company's director, Fredrik Hiorth (1851–1923) . Today, the abandoned houses are used by the residents of Longyearbyan during the weekends.
